52 Card Challenge and More Squares

Today I have been making an 11th hour card for the 52 card challenge hosted by Mystic Nat on UKS. You can find the details of the challenge on her blog, a new prompt is posted each Monday morning. Here is this weeks prompt.

So, something new….hmmm I didn’t get any paper crafty stuff for Christmas, luckily I had the Stampin’ Up Label Love set which I haven’t used yet. I combined this with the punch, a crafts too embossing folder, cuttlebone Swiss dots embossing folder, Xcut nesting dies (not all of which nest but there’s enough of a combo for me) and some ribbon and chipboard. Here is my card.

If you are really keen you can also make a Christmas card for the challenge too. So since I had a Sizzix Textured Impressions Christmas Elegance set unused and a Kaisercraft Christmas sentiments set I jumped at the challenge. I combined this with Stampin’ Up Warmth & Wonder hostess set stamp and Season of Style paper pack.

And finally I’ll show you my squares for days 4 and 5, just plain ones. I know it’s a cop out but I’ll do more exciting ones later.

A Granny A Day – Days 1 – 3

Last summer I signed up for crochet camp run by the very talented Kat Goldin. It was 4 weeks of learning crochet and although I knew how to crochet I learned so much from this and met lots of lovely people on the Facebook group.

Anyway this week some of the others were talking about A Granny A Day where you crochet one square a day and by the end of the year if you have kept it up you will have 365 squares to make a lovely big blanket. I decided to join in and have managed so far. Here are days 1-3 of my efforts.

The red one is from here

The flower one is from here

The dotted one is from ravelry and I can’t find link to it now, argh! I will update with the link once I find it.

They will need blocking I think but they are pretty much the same size. Hope I manage to finish it, this time next year I could be writing on here all cosy under my newly completed blanket and not just have a random pile of squares in a box somewhere 🙂

New Year, New Blog

Hello!  I have started this new blog to see if it inspires me to create more and to try and encourage myself to keep up with the Granny A Day crochet challenge and any other challenges that catch my eye.

You can find my previous blog here, although you probably won’t want to bother with it as it has not been updated since October 2012!

I have completed squares 1 and 2 of my crochet challenge but won’t be sharing the pics til tomorrow as the light is quite naff.
